Chapter #30 The Radio Guy Part 2

Last chapter I talked about the beginnings for me in radio; in this chapter, I will talk about the overall first year at Kansas State calling on air activities, a small preview of what's to come for the summer, and could be topics changes??

On Air:  My first year on radio for the Wildcat 919 was a great experience getting to do A LOT of things learning to do stats, or running boards, doing color commentary, play by play, talking about news. Almost everything you can think of; I learned how to do it. Football (at K-State) only got to do one game but I did some behind the scene stuff. Basketball season for Men and Women I did a lot more including calling my first play-by-play game. That was a lot of fun; had a blast with. Baseball, the same amount of work like basketball almost...being in the the booth with two other students or one talking baseball which is fun for me because I know the game very well because of play this game for a long time.

Preview: This summer I will be on staff as the assistant of news and sports; primary will be in news mostly to help them get there news coverage on the radio up from this past year. This is something that I have little experience in, but I'm up for the challenge in doing this. Meanwhile, I will be debuting as a DJ in prime time as well. That will be exciting will how far that goes. Prime time will begins next week.

Changes: There will be really no major changes to my blog yet, I would like to mix it up a little bit more and talk about some of my favorite sports. I will starting this summer will be balancing out talking about what's going on with me with some of the sporting events that are going on currently that I enjoy; the teams I follow. There's still a lot going on in sports right now, with Wildcat sports winding down for the summer after the track and field championships concluded last weekend. Stay tuned for more.

Chapter #29: The Radio Guy Part 1

It's been a few weeks since the last chapter, busy with getting everything together for the last week of classes with finals here at Kansas State. Since late last summer, I think I have found something that I'm interested in for the future. I have new found motivation to keep going to finish off college. I was really on the verge of heading back to Alaska for the summer...it would have been mid-June that I would've gone back to Juneau, but that will be put on hold this year and I will continue my pursuit in radio this summer with The Wildcat 919 at Kansas State. Being involved with radio has started to open some doors for opportunities to be successful.

Looking back over this past year, I have gotten a lot better at the on the air stuff. It's amazing that a lot of people and I mean a lot, my friends and other people that I don't have came up to me and said that I have that radio voice on the air that people can listen to. I wouldn't have even imagine that I have that voice, but I do. I sound a lot different on the air when I listen to myself talk and I will explain more about it in Part 2 about how this all got started. I have always had an interest in the radio business if I wasn't on the field playing sports. From football to doing basketball for the men and women's (I did a lot of the Women's games) to baseball games (I've done quite a few) I've gotten really good...not that good yet but just improving from game to game correcting the things that you need to correct.

Stay tuned for Part 2 next week...
Talk to you guys soon!
